Wait Before You Brush

Brushing your teeth after meals is a good practice --- but not immediately after drinking carbonated drinks. Such drinks are acidic enough to “dissolve” the enamel surface of your teeth, says Dr Christina Sim, senior consultant from the departmenr of restorative dentistry at the National Dental Centre. “ It is not advisable to brush immediately after drinking acidic beverages as this will remove the tooth surface that has been softened,” she explains. You should, however, rinse your mouth immediately after the drink to dilute oral acidity. Wait for about an hour after your last sip of soda to allow your saliva to restore the pH balance in the mouth before brushing, she says
