An oral healthcare team comprising of dentist(s), dental surgery assistant(s) and dental technician is likely to be involved in your care at the National Dental Centre. Your treatment may involve a team of clinical staff from different departments if the condition requires cross-disciplinary attention. At times, a "consult" (ie. an evaluation from a dental surgeon from a particular specialty) will be ordered. Your team of clinical staff may include residents who are doctors-in-training specializing in a selected field of dentistry. Supervised dental officers with degrees may also participate in providing the simpler aspects of your care. Trained dental surgery assistants (DSAs) provide efficient assistance to your dental surgeon while you undergo treatment, and ensures the treatment room is kept neat and comfortable, with dental instruments changed after every patient. When required, our DSAs provide translation so patients can communicate better with their dental surgeons.
A dental technician will be involved in your care if you require customised dental components for your treatment, such as crowns or braces.
