Implantology at NDC
Dental implant therapy has been available at the National Dental Centre for more than 20 years. The types of cases seen range from single tooth replacements to the more complex implant-retained prosthesis for the entire dentition, including facial defects.
Much emphasis is placed on the outcome of treatment. Implant cases are followed up for several years to ensure that they are well-maintained. The concerns of our specialist teams do not solely include the achievement of dental aesthetics; safety and long-term viability of the patient's implant are also taken into account to ensure the overall improvement of his or her life.
Expert Teams
Each patient benefits from a team of experienced specialists who contribute their expertise in the surgical and restoration aspects to the patient's implant treatment. Our specialists have advanced training in their fields and keep up to date with the latest developments in implant therapy through regular professional literature reviews and lectures by leading industry experts.
Proven Implant Systems
Currently, there are several established implant systems used at NDC. They enable a whole range of clinical problems to be treated. To ensure high standards of clinical quality, dental materials are evaluated stringently before being adopted for patients' use.
For instance, implant systems must be accompanied by well-documented evidence of rigourous research and efficacy in controlled-studies, before they can be considered for use. The systems selected are from reputable companies which devote considerable resources towards research and development (R & D) and provide good after-sales service. This is especially crucial because implants and its components are expected to function for many years.
Reduced Risks With 3-D Digital Imaging and Treatment Planning
Implant treatment at NDC incorporates the use of well-documented techniques and cutting-edge technology. Currently, teeth scheduled for extraction or replacement are first evaluated for bone volume and quality by a specialist. Consequently, measures such as bone grafting and socket preservation procedures can be taken to minimise bone loss at the extraction site.
NDC surgeons also have access to three-dimensional imaging and treatment planning systems; these will prove valuable for high-risk cases whereby close proximity between the tooth and vital structures such as nerves and vessels is present.
These imaging systems also aid in the assessment of available bone at the site, which translates to better planning, increased accuracy and heightened patient safety during implant placement. |
