The National Dental Centre offers a unique training environment for dental professionals, being a full-service specialist dental centre. Our teaching programmes are designed to provide all members of the oral healthcare team with continuing professional education.

Undergraduate Teaching

The Centre contributes staff to the Faculty of Dentistry as clinical teachers on the undergraduate programme. Undergraduate dental students also attend consultation clinics at the Centre. 

Postgraduate Residency Programmes

Training posts at NDC are accredited by the Royal Colleges of Surgeons
(United Kingdom) as well as the National University of Singapore. The Residency Programmes prepare candidates for examinations leading to the award of Masters in Dental Surgery degrees.

Residency programmes are available for

  • Endodontics
  • Prosthodontics
  • Periodontics
  • Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Orthodontics

General Practice Programme 

 

Dental officers manage a wide range of patients with other specialists at the Centre. This Programme is aimed at providing junior dental officers with training opportunities for improving diagnostic and clinical skills. Other aspects include dental radiography, emergencies and managing patients with special needs.

 

Continuing Professional Education  (CPE)

The Centre is a focal point for continuing dental education for the dental profession, offering over 150 hours of CPE activities annually.

Excellent teaching facilities are open for use by various professional bodies undertaking continuing education programmes.

Auxiliary Training

Two training course for auxiliaries are available:

  • Certificate III in Dental Assisting: Offered in collaboration with the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia.
  • NITEC Certificate in Dental Technology: Offered in collaboration with the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) of Singapore.
